A Brooklyn Day Spa : Very Demure, Very Mindful
As a former brooklyn resident, it’s always a treat to come home and visit all of your favorite haunts (that is, hoping that they still exist), which I absolutely did. However, experiencing a day spa in the center of Brooklyn was not on my bingo card. World Spa in Midwood enters the chat While the kids were out having a “brat summer”, I was deadset on enjoying a soft city life outside of the jungle. A little SATC with splash of “City Girls”. Not Carrie but…Caresha Bradshaw wink
World Spa is an oasis of serenity, packed with a myriad of different treatment options and saunas. You can find Moroccan and Turkish Hammams, cool/hot plunge pools, a himalyan salt room, and even cryo-therapy. The steam rooms at World Spa in Brooklyn provide a serene and inviting atmosphere for relaxation and rejuvenation. Finished with natural stone and soft lighting, these spaces create an ideal environment for unwinding. The gentle warmth and aromatic steam fill the air, promoting detoxification and improved circulation. Guests can enjoy a peaceful escape while experiencing the therapeutic benefits of steam, making it a popular choice for both locals and visitors seeking a holistic wellness experience.
If you’ve been to any spas in the NYC area, you may have noticed the lack of full-service day spas. There’s King Spa just outside of NY in NJ, which does have an affordable day pass option to luxuriate in their many different treatments rooms, however, I wasn’t a big fan of the size of the large facility and well…the crowd. Perhaps weekdays invite less people, but I prefer a bit more exclusivity. That many people using the wet facilities gave me the ick. And then you have AIRE - which is a luxe fav of mine. Talk about sexy! I love Aire for their ambiance and ability to transport you somewhere relaxing. World Spa happens to be a perfect blend of the two. The privacy of a boutique spa with some of the high quality services and design that you would expect at a more state-of-the-art facility.
Now here’s the tea on the costs // The day passes that offers you unlimited access costs between $95-$100, which allows for a 4 hr time slot to enjoy the spas facilities. There’s an additional $25/hour if you stay after your scheduled time. If you book a service, you’re allowed access one hour before or after. PRO TIP : If I were to do it again, I would take advantage of their evening special. The package comes with a curated 3-course menu and complimentary unlimited pass for $115. That’s awfully reasonable given their timed entry pass will run you close to that amount alone. Choosing this option gives you the flexibility to turn it into a bonding experience with friends, or even date night with Bae. Services can be booked until 830 pm, and the facilities close at 10:30 pm M-Sa. Just BE MINDFUL and book your reservation anytime after 5 pm. Happy indulging!
Bonus : I saw a plenty other Black women enjoying the spa while I was there, so I think it’s safe to say that the place feels inclusive. It’s wild to imagine that’s something we still have to consider when occupying public spaces…
